About 350 people gathered at the Cenotaph in Balclutha to commemorate the Anzac dawn service this morning.
Everyone was welcomed by Alex McLaughlin who also offered prayer and reflection.
The ceremony was short with the guest speaker Second Lieutenant Aiden Toder who reminded the New Zealand armed forces are still active and serving the country today.
He also spoke on the importance of Anzac Day and to remember there are many threats that we face, not just war, as was proven with recent natural disasters in the country.
South Otago High School headboy Dylan Crawford spoke of his special family connection to the war.
RSA representative Martin Ford read the Anzac dedication.
Following the service, armed forces, RSA representatives, police, fire, St John and Scout groups congregated at the Clutha District RSA where a special scholarship was awarded to tertiary students from the district.
