A man enjoying the scenery while driving at 150kmh north of Dunedin told police driving fast made the experience better.

Officers stopped the driver in Goodwood, north of Waikouaiti, at 1pm today.

When questioned, the man told police he ‘‘enjoyed looking at the scenery while driving fast’’.

Police posted the incident on social media as a reminder ahead of the Easter period that these type of excuses ‘‘won’t fly’’.

‘‘We make no apology for issuing drivers with infringements where necessary.

‘‘Everybody has a responsibility to play on the roads, to ensure we all make it to our destination safely.’’

The holiday period began at 4pm today and ends at 6am on Tuesday.
