"The feedback's good, even from those who weren't there. They're pleased that it's getting bigger and going forward.
I've had quite a few people join over the last few days and even more today on Facebook," Mrs Whitewoods said yesterday.
The inaugural SLLAGS meeting, which was held at the the Bunker Bar, attracted over a dozen people, with many more unable to attend because of work commitments, including members from Wanaka.
However, the group's Facebook page is growing fast and now has 40 members.
"There's lot of people around. It's just that no-one's ever really done anything," Mrs Whitewoods said.
"So yeah, we'll just keep on doing it, let people know about it and get out meeting other people ... I think people are suddenly realising that there is something there in the city."
Although some people were not sure what the meetings would be like, it would just be "people coming for a mixer and meeting every couple of months just for a bit of a catch-up", she said.
The next SLLAGS event would possibly be a daytime meeting - perhaps in Wanaka, or halfway at the Cardrona Hotel, she said.
While initial numbers were still modest, recent media exposure was raising the group's profile, she said.
