Andre Moore played in the prestigious National Basketball Association (NBA) in his native United States, in Europe and in the National Basketball League in Australia, where he’s lived since 1990.
His basketball, health and wellbeing programme’s called ‘Big Feat’, which is a play on both his size 18 shoes and his goal-setting mentoring.
"Every person I deal with, not just kids but all ages, I ask ‘what’s your big feat in life that you want to accomplish?’ And then I help them to achieve those sort of goals."
The 60-year-old says his life highlights include being drafted into the NBA’s Denver Nuggets in 1987, and making enough money to buy a home for his mum who still lives in it.
Moore held clinics in Wanaka and Cromwell in April and will hold two clinics at the local Events Centre before he takes another two in Wanaka.
Suitable for 6- to 16-year-olds, the first local clinic, on September 29, runs from 10am till 2pm, followed the next day by one from 12.30 till 4.30pm.
The cost for one clinic’s $80 and for both it’s $140 — to book, email tim@ctbs.net
