Featuring Reacher star Alan Ritchson — said to be the world’s fastest-rising action star — War Machine started shooting around the state of Victoria in September.
The blockbuster follows a team of army rangers encountering a threat beyond their imagination.
Locations for the shoot, due to start next weekend, coinciding with the busy Queenstown Marathon, are understood to include Roaring Meg and the Kawarau River’s Chinese Dog Leg rapid and a waterway in the Kingston/Fairlight area.
Large Queenstown and Aussie crews are expected to be involved, along with helicopter action.
Meanwhile, shooting starts near Glenorchy next week on the British version of gruelling, elimination-style reality TV show, The Summit.
The original Australian show and an American spin-off, which aired recently, have also been shot in the same area, with extensive helicopter flying time also involved.
The show sees contestants trying to summit a mountain to claim a share of a substantial prize pool.
