"Tindallgate" bouncer Jonathan Dixon was remanded without plea in the Queenstown District Court yesterday when he appeared on two charges of assault and causing grievous bodily harm to two men outside a resort nightclub.

Judge John Clapham granted the application by the Otago Daily Times to take photographs in court of Dixon as the defendant was already in the public eye and photography could not further affect his case, despite opposition from his defence counsel.

The appearance was otherwise "essentially a machinery matter" in court proceedings, Judge Clapham said.

Dixon (41) was due to appear for a post-committal conference in the Queenstown District Court on March 27.

Jordan Lees Sinke, of Queenstown, was put in an induced coma in hospital after the incident outside the nightclub in the early hours of January 21.

Dixon was also charged with assaulting Thomas Ian Beatson, of Queenstown, the same night.

The defendant indicated he will plead not guilty to the charges when he appeared in the court late last month.

Dixon was already on bail after appearing in court on charges of accessing a computer system and dishonestly obtaining video surveillance footage of England rugby player Mike Tindall and a woman in a bar in September, during the Rugby World Cup.

Tindall is married to the Queen's granddaughter, Zara Phillips.
