Stellar line-up for jazz night

A glittering line-up of top jazz and funk talent will entertain at the Stoneleigh Jazz Night tomorrow.

The event is hailed as the major concert of the Queenstown Winter Festival.

Topping the bill is Nathan Haines, one of New Zealand's most successful contemporary jazz exports.

Haines takes to the turntables for a DJ set, then he will perform his Heaven and Earth show with his eight-musician band.

Haines has played many major festivals and clubs throughout the world, including the Tokyo Blue Note, the North Sea Jazz Festival and the Southport Weekender.

Haines' seventh solo album, Heaven and Earth, was released in April last year.

Songstresses LA Mitchell and Sacha Vee are set to get the upstairs jazz lounge swinging before Sacha joins fellow funksters Oval Office on stage.

Completing the line-up are Invercargill's Rythmonyx and one of New Zealand's most popular jazz dub bands, Tahuna Breaks.

• Stoneleigh Jazz Night, tomorrow, music starts 7.30pm. Skyline Gondola opens 7pm. Concert $89, or $111 including supper. Tickets from TicketDirect and Queenstown i-Site. R18.
