The soulful brassy beat retro five-piece based in Auckland releases its fifth studio album Low and Behold, High and Beyond on August 10 and hits the road on a nine-date nationwide tour to play its new tunes and extensive back catalogue, five albums deep.
Versatile founding producer Andrew Spraggon navigated his band in a slightly new direction to deliver an album underpinned by his appreciation of hip-hop and nu-funk and soul.
Spraggon, now on a 10-date tour of the United States, said in a statement he was looking forward to returning to New Zealand for the album release and first Sola Rosa tour in two years.
"This is the first album we've really collaborated on as a band. We're all really happy with the result and the way the live show is sounding.
"I can't wait to take this album out on the road. We've been rehearsing new tracks for our North American tour and the new tunes are slammin'."
The musical formation of Spraggon, Spikey Tee, Ben White, Matt Short, Cherie Mathieson and L.A. Mitchell embark on the tour in Auckland on August 10 with an album-release party at the Studio.
The tour takes them South via Sammy's, Dunedin, on September 7, then the World Bar, Queenstown, on September 8.
Tickets for the Queenstown gig cost $27.50 plus booking fee from Under The Radar online.
