Following one of the most inappropriate events during this year's Queenstown Winter Festival, it was fitting Miss Inappropriate, also known as Mark Wilson, was crowned the winner of the 2012 Drag Race.
After highly competitive heats - where high heels became stuck in the sodden ground, wigs went flying and fair play went out the window - Mr Wilson and Regan Pearce, aka Regina, went high heel to high heel in the final lap.
The pair were neck and neck for the majority of the race, with Mr Wilson gaining the final advantage when Mr Pearce opted to perform a superman dive in an attempt to skid under an obstacle, appearing to wind himself.
The race capped off a morning full of hilarity as the 20 drag queens readied themselves in Queenstown, with full make-up expertly applied before they slipped into something more uncomfortable.
Festival director Simon Green - himself a former contestant - was on hand to give out some timely advice, reminding the ladettes to do an underwear check prior to racing.
"You have to dress under the assumption you will fall down at some point and your dress will be around your armpits."
Lakes Environmental building manager Pete Laurenson was rescued by his wife, Queenstown Lakes Mayor Vanessa van Uden, who arrived with a petticoat to cover his dignity after finding the dress he borrowed from his daughter a little on the short side.
Destination Queenstown's Ben Chapman admitted to being "pretty scared", having been taken out before the first hurdle in the 2007 race.
However, he was hoping the largely inexperienced field would work to his advantage.
"Most of the boys are new to this.
"I'm going to let them make the obvious mistakes and I'm going to go about my business."
NZSki chief executive James Coddington's heels were of a questionable height, something he put down to a lack of larger ladies shoes.
"I could not find any size 12 women's heels, so I found the next best thing - boot heels.
"I still can't walk in them."
While he hoped to escape the race uninjured it was not to be, with a pulled hamstring, ruling him out of the final.
Richie Heap, Alpine Health & Fitness manager, named Miss Personality, entered as Pamela Yankabolokoff, basing his ensemble on Pamela Anderson during her Baywatch days, while his work colleague JD Marrable, Lakes Leisure events manager - named best dressed - took the crown for the highest heels, sporting silver stilettos for the event.
"I'm not going to run, I'm going to prance ... what's that saying, the hare and the tortoise?
"I'm not built for speed. I'm built for comfort."
