"The coffee machines just went all day" and there was everything from bacon butties to specialty cheese on offer.

Remarkables Park communications and projects manager Olivia Porter said the park's midwinter market on Saturday offered the largest selection of ready-to-eat food so far.

The usually summer market returned for a one-off winter special and was deemed a roaring success by organisers.

More than 2500 people flocked to visit the 65 stalls featuring a wide variety of crafts, food, books, toys and clothing.

While snowy mountains complemented the frosty morning, Ms Porter said the weather was "amazing".

"All in all it was a great day," she said.

"It was packed.

"It was a full car park that turned over and over."

The first Remarkables Park car fair, which opened at 10am, was also a success.

The fair would be returning on Saturday, August 4, and the first weekend of every month from then on.

The market's summer season will begin on Saturday, October 27.
