Coffee seekers were serenaded by 26 Queenstown Primary School pupils playing their ukuleles yesterday morning.
The year 5 and 6 pupils strummed and sang Bye Bye Love, The Lazy Song, The Lion Sleeps Tonight and other favourites for 35 minutes for about 30 patrons in Motogrill, on lower Shotover St.
They practised on their four-stringed instruments for two terms and co-ordinated the print and radio promotion of their show.
The Queenstown Primary Ukulele Group raised $70 in donations for Orphans International.
The cause was chosen by the children as they studied the concept of justice in New Zealand and overseas.
The group plays again today for "Pink Afternoon Tea", a fundraiser for Breast Cancer Action Month, in the Queenstown Events Centre, at 2.30pm. Tickets cost $5 and everyone is welcome.
Teacher Lynda Thomas said yesterday the children would love to perform for more audiences and she could be contacted through the school.
