Remarkables Primary School pupils will be able to see how their garden grows year round, thanks to a new tunnel house from real estate agency hoamz.

Senior members of the Queenstown real estate agency last week visited 22 years 7 and 8 pupils working on the kitchen garden beside the Red Barn venue of Remarkables Market.

The kitchen garden opened last October and aimed to teach children how to sustainably plan, grow, harvest and share fruit, vegetables and herbs. Science came into play with pupils investigating the components of soil while organically solving the problems of weeds and water in the low-lying garden.

Horticultural teacher Kelly Scoles said the warm shelter of the tunnel house would speed up the natural growth of plants to keep up with school terms, so more children could experience the process.

Hoamz managing partner Fred Bramwell said his team was delighted to help with the project.
