Siblings Dan (29), Gee (26) and Rachel (23), who have a string of world cup victories between them, are undertaking two months' pre-season training in the southern hemisphere.
Having arrived at the start of the month, they have already been making the most of the world-class tracks, back-country trails, downhill rides, jump park, heli-biking and the gondola-assisted bike lift in and around the resort.
The resort had provided the siblings with an opportunity to hone their competitive edge mentally and physically. Gee Atherton said training in Queenstown had exceeded their expectations.
"We just don't want to leave - this place has everything.
"Not only does it have a great mix of downhill and cross-country trails, it has the most spectacular scenery, the gym facilities we need to keep us physically strong and a huge range of activities to keep us busy when were not riding." he said.
While in Queenstown the Athertons were filming for their reality podcast series, The Atherton Project, which features on www.Redbull.co.uk.
Gee got a taste for Queenstown and its biking potential last year while filming bike-adventure movie Follow Me.
He believed it was the best training ground in the southern hemisphere and could be the next big thing for the mountain-biking fraternity.
The resort's growing reputation as a biking destination would be further enhanced at Easter during the inaugural Queenstown Bike Festival, being held from April 16 to 25.
