Despite embracing new experiences in Melbourne, Anika proved she was still a down-to-earth Kiwi chick at heart.
A repertoire of chart-troubling hits, three best-selling albums of her own to draw from plus a reggae excursion and dynamic covers of her favourite bands endeared her to the predominantly female Queenstown crowd.
The former Aucklander smoothly switched between playing her patented blend of soul and country pop to bantering with fans and band members about Maori Language Week, her liver cleansing diet which forbade drinking or smoking, sticky floors in Wanaka, snowboarding and why pretty girls are given stickers to wear at James Blunt concerts.
On her third gig in her beloved Queenstown, Anika enjoyed strong support from touring partner, new recording artist and old flatmate Anna Coddington, plus her band, who were dubbed at least for the night, as The Pubcrawlers.
