His favourite superhero is the Hulk.

His favourite snack is popcorn with M&Ms.

And he is quite happy to leave the contentious selection calls to the boss.

Highlanders great Ben Smith is used to fielding questions from reporters but he had to deal with some rather curly ones yesterday.

The assistant coach was grilled by daughter Annabelle as part of Super Rugby Pacific’s "Super Kids" round.

Her dad was always a calm head on the rugby field and Annabelle — who turns 10 this week — looked a complete natural as she fired some questions at him.

She even maintained her professionalism when Smith told a funny story about the Highlanders having to pick up some doggy doo before training one day.

Dad caught himself once when his daughter asked for the best thing about being a coach.

"Winning ... oh, I enjoy winning but I enjoy the process of the week then getting out there and seeing us action a plan and getting a result."

The Highlanders will be wearing their Hulk-inspired Marvel Comics strip when they host the Hurricanes — who will be in Captain America gear — on Friday night.

Smith, who also has two sons, is a big fan of the idea of "Super Kids" round.

"I think down here at the Highlanders, the marketing team do a great job, and there’s a great product with rugby at the moment to get families along to watch games.

"I know Annabelle loves coming along to watch a rugby game, and my other two are the same."
