Three Queenstown radio staffers put their hair on the line on Friday for the Leukaemia and Blood Foundation Shave for a Cure fundraiser.

Led by radioworks advertising consultant Marty Newell, the three had by Friday raised $640 by putting out a call on-air for sponsorship for them to shave their heads.

The radioworks team decided the more money donated, the more heads would be shaved, so general manager Wade Cornelius and production engineer Jonathan Cloudesley also lost their locks.

Theirs was part of a nationwide effort to get 10,000 people shaving in solidarity for an equal number of New Zealanders estimated to be living with blood cancer or a condition like leukaemia.
