The Wakatipu stars of the upcoming show Calendar Girls have bravely stripped off for their own fundraising calendar, just as their characters in the comedy do.

Actresses Kathleen Brentwood, Nicky Busst, Carolyn Crum, Maggie Ennis, Victoria Keating and Rachel Rose took a break from rehearsing the latest production by Remarkable Theatre on August 24.

With ''plenty of bubbles and plenty of nerves'', the ladies gathered in committee member Jane Robertson's house for a photo shoot by Queenstown photographer Matt Wong to create their very own calendar, Ms Keating said.

''Matt was great.

''He really put us all at ease,'' she said.

Giles Burton ''is an amazing director; we're learning so much from him and we've bonded incredibly well''.

A total of six photographs were selected for the 2014 calendar, which will be sold in conjunction with the programme when Calendar Girls is staged in the Queenstown Memorial Centre from Thursday until Saturday.

Just as the calendar in the play by Tim Firth and in real life raised money for cancer charities, proceeds from Queenstown's own Calendar Girls calendar will be given to the Cancer Society of New Zealand for spending within the Wakatipu.
