Summer 2014 is shaping up to be a big one for music fans, with Fat Freddy's Drop as the headliners of Rippon Festival, then Lynyrd Skynyrd, Starship featuring Mickey Thomas and 10cc set to rock Queenstown.
Tickets ($130) went on sale on Saturday through Ticketek for the 10th not-for-profit Rippon Open Air Festival, Wanaka, on February 1.
The bill includes Fat Freddy's Drop, Home Brew, Electric Wire Hustle, Ladi6, The Phoenix Foundation, Die! Die! Die!, Myele Manzanza and the Eclectic, Sunshine Sound System, Kody Nielson, the Digg, Some Other Planets, Brockaflowersaurus-Rex, DJ Reno, Peacekeepers, and Ria Hall.
Featured on the Rippon Hall stage are Lips, Warren Maxwell, Zoe Moon, Jesse Sheehan, and Wanaka's own Danny Fairley and Martine Harding.
Following the success of the 2013 Summer Concert Tour headlined by Pat Benatar and Neil Giraldo, Bachman and Turner, and America, the 2014 version, promoted by Greenstone Entertainment, features Lynyrd Skynyrd and Starship's first ever New Zealand performances and English art rock group 10cc.
The trio of acts take to the stage at Gibbston Valley Winery on February 15.
