Four people were taken to Lakes District Hospital yesterday after a car crash near Arrow Junction.

Police said the crash happened when a 26-year-old local woman pulled out of White Chapel Rd on to State Highway 6 and her car collided with a car she had failed to see.

Constable Phillip Bayne said she was "very lucky" as her driver-seat door had taken the full impact of the oncoming car.

The driver of the oncoming car was a 45-year-old woman.

Her 79-year-old father and 78-year-old mother were in the car. They are all of Christchurch.

The couple were expected to be kept in hospital overnight as a precaution.

All four people involved in the accident received minor injuries.

The Arrowtown and Frankton fire brigades responded, as well as three vehicles from the Queenstown police.
