Queenstown couples Jason and Jenny Lennon and Lauren and Matthew Davis said the hospitality hub was a great place to visit.
"It's nice to see all the different things going on [here in Main Street] and great to walk around the golf course, too," Mr Lennon said.
The group shared an interest in golf and enjoyed watching the players in action on the private course, Ms Davis said.
"You read and hear a lot about The Hills, so it's good to come and check it out first hand," Mr Lennon said.
Rotorua residents Ken Allen and Ken Smith have travelled south to watch and support their fellow Springfield Golf Club member, and world No 1 amateur Danny Lee.
Mr Smith's son Mark Smith is one of the Bay of Plenty's top golfers, having led the region's team to five wins - often playing alongside Lee - during the past seven years at the New Zealand National Golf Championships.
"We're like his [Lee's] unofficial home course fan club," Mr Smith said.
While following Lee around the fairways, they had bumped into and befriended United States golf writer Max Adler.
The trio had decided to take a look around Main Street after watching Lee's round and were enjoying the festivities on offer.
Attractions on Main Street included the massive Heineken mobile bar, while the scoreboard provided a more informative option.
