Doodle auction continues

An online art auction to raise funds for the Wanaka Primary School has started a second round of bidding for celebrity-designed doodles of houses, after earning $1070 for a first lot of five pictures.

A sketch by comedian Rhys Darby fetched a top price of $500 for the Wanaka Primary School Future Trust, after 11 bids were made for his house doodle last week.

A picture by Prime Minister John Key was auctioned for $350 - a sum well down on the $10,000 paid in a different online auction for Mr Key's sketch of the New Zealand flag.

Doodles of houses drawn by entertainers the Topp Twins and Tauranga MP Simon Bridges were sold for $120, while Waitaki MP Jacqui Dean's house sketch was bought for $100.

The second lot of house doodles in the rolling auction runs on Trade Me until Sunday and features drawings by television programme host Paul Henry and his Breakfast Show co-host Pippa Wetzell.

The Wanaka Primary School Future Trust auction co-ordinator, Phillipa Wilson, who is a teacher at the school, has collected about 30 doodle drawings for the fundraising event.
