Cougars on the prowl, grandchildren from hell, divorce parties, Botox botch-ups, old boyfriends popping up online and internet dating successes and tragedies are lampooned in Boomers Behaving Badly, which hits Arrowtown tomorrow.

Classically trained singer and comedienne Jane Keller, of Wellington, but originally from Ohio, brings her clever, risque and empathetic look at life to the Athenaeum Hall. She said it all stemmed from waking up one morning to discover she had turned 50.

"How did that happen? The same thing had happened to my friends and so many people I know.

"One minute we were in college and the next minute our hair colour had changed to salt and pepper, newspapers had smaller print and our favourite 1970s clothes and albums were commanding high prices in retro vintage shops in Cuba St."

Michael Nicholas Williams accompanies Keller on piano, an instrument which virtually becomes a character in the Arts on Tour New Zealand show.

Tickets cost $20 from the Lakes District Museum, Arrowtown and on the door. Boomers Behaving Badly begins at 7.30pm.

State of Mind returning
Auckland drum'n'bass duo State of Mind this week announced a return to Subculture on May 12.

Support on the decks will come courtesy of Queenstown's own Downtown Brown, D-Jade, Tsubliminal and Randy Cessile.

Initially signed to Total Science's CIA label in 2004, DJs and producers Patrick Hawkins and Stu Maxwell went on to also sign with Teebee's Subtitles Records, Futurebounds Viper label, Doc Scott's 31 Records, Simon Bassline Smith's Technique Recordings, Bad Company and Obsessions.

However, 2007 was the year the lads decided to launch their own record label, SOM Music.

Representative of their own sound, the label boasts collaborations and remixes by the likes of Black Sun Empire, Chris Su, the Upbeats and Axiom.

Limited early-bird presales for the Subculture gig cost $10 from Dash Tickets online. Presales cost $15 from Dash Tickets, Quest and the Church St basement venue.
