The big concert event for the Queenstown Winter Festival has gone "back to its roots" with a "world-class" line-up, the organisers say.

The southern hemisphere's biggest winter party has secured top New Zealand and international acts for the Stoneleigh Jazz Night, in the Skyline complex on Saturday, July 2.

Topping the bill is one of the country's most successful contemporary jazz musicians, Nathan Haines, who will perform his Heaven and Earth show before taking to the turntables for a DJ set.

Songstresses L.A. Mitchell and Sacha Vee will get the upstairs jazz lounge swinging before Christchurch funk-soul band Oval Office take things up another notch.

Completing the line-up is Invercargill's Rythmonyx and one of New Zealand's most in-demand jazz-dub bands Tahuna Breaks.

Festival director Simon Green said jazz fans were in for "an incredible night".

"The Winter Festival looks to support Kiwi arts, music and culture and the team works hard to secure nothing less than first-class acts," he said.

"For music lovers, or those wanting to sit back and enjoy supper over some live entertainment, I highly recommend this evening."

Ticket-holders to the Stoneleigh Jazz Night can choose to enjoy the evening's entertainment with a supper ($111) or just the music ($89).

Music starts at 7.30pm and the Skyline Gondola opens at 7pm.

The American Express Queenstown Winter Festival returns from June 24 to July 3.

Tickets for all events can be bought from TicketDirect, the Queenstown Events Centre or the i-Site Visitor Centre.
