Australian producer and Raspect Records frontman Ali MC presents what he describes as a "fresh mash-up of reggae, dancehall, hip-hop and dub" at Revolver on Saturday, February 19.
The mash-up is on release as the debut limited-edition seven-inch single from New Dub City.
Featuring two songs, Home and Dub in Liberia, it combined "conscious lyrics, solid beats and a backdrop of echoes and delays delivered with distinct energy and passion", Ali MC said in a statement.
Home, produced by Ali MC, was described as laid-back summer dub with an overlay of surf-guitar sounds, while Dub in Liberia was a reggae soundscape of life in the war-torn African nation.
The release boasted contributions from British Metalheadz producer Mikal and punk-pop sleeve artwork by Jamaican graphic artist Freestylee and is being promoted during a "bass-heavy and energetic live" 10-date transtasman tour.
The New Dub City Sound seven-inch will be followed by a full-length album due for release in June.
Ali MC and New Dub City Sound, with support from DJ Rico and MC Kalyx, play Revolver, on Saturday, February 19, from 9pm. Free entry.
