Walk For Kids draws more than 80

Peter Bond (left) and Freeman Willetts, both of Oamaru, take part in the Oamaru 10-10-10 Walk For Kids on Saturday.

More than 80 people, including the North Otago Heartland Rugby team and Waitaki Mayor Gary Kircher, took part in the walk, which covered 455km, raising more than $2000 for the Lions Clubs NZ Child Mobility Foundation (CMF).

CMF offers children support by co-ordinating the supply and maintenance of mobility devices, such as the Hart Walker.

Murray Linwood, of the Waiareka Valley Lions Club, said the money raised on Saturday was about a fifth of the cost of one Hart Walker.

He thanked all of the participants, who walked between 1km and 10km each as part of the event, volunteers and sponsors.
