Observatory Hill's retirement village project is on track for completion on July 31, 2017, says site supervisor Luke Gilchrist.
Mr Gilchrist, of Roger Gilchrist Building Services, said the building programme was a third of the way through its 18-month schedule.
A 1000sq m apartment block, a 1000sq m community wing and a 1700sq m care facility had taken shape on the site and were basically now enclosed spaces which would allow work to continue once Oamaru's weather finally turned.
Mr Gilchrist said he was pleased with the progress that had been made by a small army of trades people, including plumbers, builders and fire-sprinkler installers.
"Most of it's run reasonably smoothly ... no real obstacles.''
He said fine weather had allowed the construction to run smoothly.
"Half the area now has a roof over it, of the main building footprint.''
Project manager Michael Forgie said the next stage would be installing services through all the buildings.
