Men who fled crash scene sought

Police are looking for two men who fled the scene of a car crash in a stolen car at Island Cliff, near Duntroon.

The two 20-year-old men were in a car that crashed on Sunday.

None of the five occupants was injured. The two men allegedly ran to a nearby farm, where they took a red Suzuki Vitara and drove away.

Acting Sergeant Ross Lory, of Oamaru, said the driver at the crash scene failed a blood-alcohol test.

The test result was not available, but the 19-year-old male would appear in Oamaru District Court later this month charged with drink-driving and receiving a stolen car.

The car involved in the crash was stolen from Dunedin about a month ago.

The remaining passengers, both female, aged 17 and 15, and of Oamaru, were not charged with anything.

Acting Sgt Lory said police would appreciate information about the whereabouts of the two men who left the scene.
