Five nominations have been received for two vacancies on the board of the Oamaru Whitestone Civic Trust, the organisation which overseas the development and promotion of the historic Harbour-Tyne Sts area of the town.
The trust's board comprises the Mayor of Waitaki (or his alternate), six members of the public (two appointed by the council and four elected by trust members) and one member appointed by the North Otago regional committee of the Historic Places Trust.
Each year, two of the elected members of the trust retire by rotation and can seek re-election.
This year , those two are Jenny Lynch-Blosse, who is seeking re-election, and long-serving trustee Michael O'Brien, who has not sought re-election.
Nominations for the two vacancies closed on Saturday, and trust returning officer Faye Ormandy said yesterday five were received.
They are Harry Andrew, Ian Hurst, Mrs Lynch-Blosse, Hec Ramsay and Carol Scott.
Mrs Ormandy said the election would be by postal vote, with papers going out to members over the next two weeks.
The trust also planned a "meet the candidates" meeting for members soon after papers went out.
The meeting date, yet to be set, will be included with voting papers.
Voting closes on March 24 and results will be announced at the trust's annual meeting on Wednesday, March 25.
