Police are reporting a spike in break-ins of cars, houses and sheds in Oamaru.
Police were unable to release many details about what items were being taken, but they included tools, some priced with a value of thousands of dollars.
Sergeant Tony Woodbridge, of Oamaru, said four burglaries were reported from Sunday to Wednesday.
Sgt Woodbridge said having so many crimes within such a short time was unusual.
"We’ve had a significant wee crime spree for the area."
Areas targeted were Oamaru’s South Hill and the town of Peebles, just north of Oamaru.
Sgt Woodbridge said the forces behind the crime spree were still unknown.
Police were asking the community to help stop the offending by reporting anything suspicious they saw.
