A Hampden man charged with kidnapping a man at Moeraki two weeks ago has been released on bail until his next court appearance.
Shane William Anderson (40), fisherman, and a 41-year-old Oamaru man are jointly charged with kidnapping the man on December 9, assaulting and threatening him, and unlawfully entering and remaining in his Moeraki house.
They are also charged with unlawfully entering and remaining in another Moeraki property on December 10, threatening the occupant and twice assaulting him.
Anderson appeared before Judge Stephen Coyle in the Dunedin District Court yesterday and was granted bail with strict conditions.
He was remanded to a pre-committal hearing on February 1 and must live at his Hampden home, be under a daily curfew from 7pm to 7am, come to the door if required, and report to the Hampden police thrice a week.
He is not allowed to go to Moeraki, must not use alcohol or illicit drugs and must not associate with his co-accused, the two complainants or any prosecution witnesses.
The alleged co-offender, a 40-year-old Oamaru man, was released on bail last Thursday for a pre-committal hearing on January 20.
His name remains suppressed but Anderson did not seek continuation of the interim suppression order yesterday.
