Cromwell's latest multimillion-dollar industrial business complex is almost completed and the first tenants plan to open their doors early next month.
Dunedin-based company 241 Ltd has established stage one of the proposed 17-lot Cromwell Business Park fronting Connelly Way in the town's industrial area.
241 director Peter White, of Dunedin, said the project was "firing on all cylinders" after a slow few months due to the economic recession.
Mr White said three of stage one's five units had been leased and the development would progress as demand warranted.
"Things are picking up a bit now, and once the complex is open for business, I think more people will become interested.
Once we lease all of stage one, we'll get straight into the next stage - until all 17 units are occupied," he said.
The two-storey complex comprises about 7000sq m of industrial-zoned land and units are about 200sq m each.
Mr White said tradesmen and warehouse storage firms were most likely to lease the complex, which provided for offices and accommodation on the top floor and working or warehouse space below.
The complex is to be gated and locked outside of opening hours for security.
Tenants would be able to access the area with swipe cards, he said.
All amenities are completed and the roading was being finished last week.
Mr White said 241 first applied to the Central Otago District Council for consent last year.
He expected the company to make a decision about further development before the end of this year, providing stage one was fully-leased.
