Subdivisions proposed at several sites

Three recent applications to the Central Otago District Council to subdivide land have been publicly notified.

An application to create two allotments on the corner of Clarks Rd and State Highway 6 at Pisa Moorings has been lodged.

The allotments would be 7ha and 8.6ha and within the rural resource area, where subdivisions with an average area less than 8ha are a discretionary activity.

Minaret Resources Ltd has applied to the council to excavate 45,800sq m of gravel and process it on site for road aggregate to be transported off site. The site is near Luggate, on State Highway 6 opposite Willowbank Rd.

A seven-lot subdivision on Booth Rd at Ophir has been applied for. It is also in the rural resource area.

The applicants want to create five allotments with areas of 3.1ha to 3.6ha, and one of 54.58ha. They also want two allotments of 37.77ha and 20.5ha to be amalgamated.

Cornish Point Developments has applied to create five allotments of 15.2ha to 22.6ha on land subject to a hazard notation in the rural resource area at Cornish Point, Cromwell.

Submissions on all the above close on June 6.

Plans to build a large residential subdivision in Cromwell have attracted seven submissions, four of them in opposition.

Touchwoode Ltd has applied to the CODC to subdivide land between McNulty Rd and the extension of Stowell Dr into 79 sections ranging from 593sq m to 842sq m.

Subdivision of land into allotments less than 4000sq m is a non-complying activity in that area. However, a variation to reduce the minimum allowable area to 500sq m is being considered.

A date for the resource consent hearing has not been set.
