The giant cherry blossom sculpture proposed for Alexandra appears no closer to fruition.
Promote Alexandra raised the idea at a Vincent Community Board meeting in June and asked for $13,500 towards the project, but the board wanted a more detailed funding application.
The sculpture was designed to be mounted on the Central Stories Museum or be freestanding in Pioneer Park, and the concept plans have attracted criticism from some residents.
The board met last week, and board member Tim Cadogan was told there had been no further correspondence from the promotion group on the matter.
"Given the feedback, I think there's more chance of me getting a perm, than of it [the sculpture] happening," Mr Cadogan said.
Board member Cam Withington said the group wanted to hear feedback on the concept plans " and that's what they've received."
