Dozens of residents gathered in Omakau on Thursday for an Otago Regional Council's Manuherikia freshwater consultation meeting.
The community-led workshop centred around the values the community has around activities related to the Manuherikia River, including swimming, fishing, irrigation and drinking water.
Regional council adviser Andrew Newman said there was a varied response from residents. Members of the community were split into groups as discussions began.
