Three Roxburgh Area School pupils' fund-raising efforts as part of their personal development programme have far exceeded their expectations.
Jessica Roberts, Jade Bourke, and Rowan Tumai set out to raise $1000 for the cancer ward at Starship Hospital and ended up with $6100 for their efforts.
They held a cake stall, sausage sizzle, mufti day for the senior school and a dress up/coin trail day for the junior school, and ran five raffles.
A fashion parade last Friday night was supported by 103 The Store and PGG Wrightsons (Roxburgh), Barkers (Dunedin) and Classic Clothing and Nu Dax (Alexandra), with entertainment from Ni-Vanuatu orchard workers.
The school is now collecting books to send to schools in Vanuatu.
