The discontent surrounding the management of the Clyde Holiday Park rated a brief mention in public and was then discussed behind closed doors at a meeting of the Vincent Community Board yesterday.

The board opted to exclude the public from watching and listening to the livestream of the online meeting, leaving only board members and Central Otago District Council staff privy to the conversation.

The Otago Daily Times had understood issues regarding the management of the Clyde Holiday Park and Sporting Complex, which is leased from the Central Otago District Council by Gary and Roslyn Ryan, were to be discussed.

The topic was listed on the public agenda for the meeting.

Issues at the holiday park have been highlighted in multiple complaints from campers and separate complaints from sports clubs that operate clubrooms next to and use facilities in the park.

It took the members reports section of the meeting for it to become apparent any discussion of the holiday park would be in private, when board deputy chairman Russell Garbutt brought it up in passing.

‘‘I have received a lot of communication in relation to the story that was written regarding the Clyde holiday camp, but I understand we’re all being briefed on that later in the non-public session.’’

Councils have the right to exclude the public under the Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act 1987.
