Christchurch-based Promisia Healthcare bought the Golden View and Ripponburn villages in Cromwell in April this year for a combined total of $33million.
Promisia said in April, when announcing the purchase from private operators, Golden View comprised a 79-bed care facility that included a specialist dementia unit and 19 serviced apartments and 102 independent living units with a communal facilities building and amenities area.
Construction of the Golden View village was completed in 2021 and the care facility in 2022.
Ripponburn was older with its original buildings constructed in the 1930s. It had 16 independent living villas and a 46-bed care facility.
About 140 staff were employed across the two facilities.
Promisia Healthcare announced late last month it was looking to review roles at the two rest-homes.
Executive director Craig Percy said yesterday that meetings on Friday informed staff of the outcome of the consultation process.
"Through natural attrition and the redesign of rosters, we don’t envisage there will be a material loss of frontline roles. There will be a reduction of four administration and management roles across the two facilities," he said.
"The Christchurch support office will provide additional administration and resources aimed at streamlining processes and clinical care across the Cromwell facilities.
"The company greatly appreciates the willingness of staff to engage in good faith during the process in providing their insights and feedback."
He said over coming weeks, further discussions would be held with staff aimed at finalising the allocation of hours and rosters.
Historically, the two rest-homes have been different businesses and operated quite differently with different shareholders.
There would not be any reduction in bed numbers.
Mr Percy previously said there was huge demand for retirement services throughout Central Otago and the company had waiting lists for its homes.
Promisia Healthcare is listed on the New Zealand stock exchange and has four other rest-homes in its portfolio — two in Feilding, one in Dannevirke and one in Christchurch.
