A celebration of local art is taking centre-stage this month at Central Stories Museum and Art Gallery, with the first of what will be a regular series of exhibitions by the Central Otago Art Society.

Society president Nigel Wilson said the group usually held three exhibitions a year - at Queens Birthday weekend, at the Clyde Wine and Food Harvest Festival at Easter and during the Alexandra Blossom Festival, in September.

As well as those displays, the society now had an exhibition of 35 works at Central Stories until the end of this month. He was pleased that venue had offered a "regular spot" to the society.

Central Stories director Brian Patrick was thrilled to host the exhibition and was impressed at the diversity and quality of the work.

The art society has more than 100 members from throughout Central Otago.
