Central Otago District Mayor Tamah Alley then officially opened the event.
After the grand parade visitors were treated to some high-speed action.
The chaotic yet cute Jack Russell race was over as fast as it started, with some dogs too busy sniffing about to finish.
After the Jack Russell race, the pet parade took place, where pets of all kinds strutted their stuff.
Maniototo A&P Association secretary Janine Smith said the stunning conditions made for a good day.
This show also broke the record for the most trade exhibits, the supreme exhibit winner being Fire Emergency New Zealand, she said.
