Indoor bowls would seem to be one sport unaffected by the weather, however last weekend showed that was not so.

Central Otago Indoor Bowls Association tournament controller Dave Moreton said flooding prevented some teams getting to Alexandra to play.

Entry numbers — 30 fours teams and 58 pairs teams — were higher than in previous years but on the day eight teams were unable to make it.

The ultimate winners in the fours was a family affair with three generations in the Otago team.

Skip Craig Cowan, his daughters Tracey van Tuel and Amanda Kapita, and Amanda’s daughter Poppy-Jade Kapita won the title.

Southland won the pairs with skip Graham Low and Bronwyn Carse taking the honours.

The Ken Hinton Blossom Festival Trophy for the Central Otago player with the best result went to Theresa Gallagher.
