Full on with 'Full Monty'

The Alexandra Musical Society has announced the cast of its risque new production, The Full Monty.

Tim Cadogan will star as Jerry and Mark Templeton will play his best friend, Dave.

Jerry and Dave are unemployed steel mill workers. After hearing how disappointed Dave's wife Georgie (played by Bronwyn Barnes) and Jerry's ex-wife Pam (played by Debbie Vercoe) are with them, the men talk to a Chippendales stripper and decide to organise a similar act.

Mrs Vercoe said the society chose this musical "because of the Rugby World Cup and changes to the school holidays. We deliberately wanted to avoid drawing teenagers and wanted something more targeted to an adult audience.

"There will be no censoring in this production; we are presenting The Full Monty as it is written."

She said the director was Bryan Aitken, former associate artistic director of the Court Theatre in Christchurch and the musical director was John Buchanan.

Mrs Vercoe said rehearsals would start on August 8 and the show would run for six nights during the blossom festival at the end of September.
