Flights check compliance

Annual Otago Regional Council winter flyovers began last week and are expected to continue for the next two weeks, focusing on some Central Otago properties and coastal Otago.

ORC compliance manager Tami Sargeant said the flyovers would look at farming practices such as intensive winter grazing, but also large land disturbances around forestry and any machinery working in or around streams, rivers and wetlands.

Following the flyovers, council staff would assess the information and undertake site visits to check compliance.
