An Ettrick man arrested with the help of the Dunedin armed offenders squad on Thursday has been remanded in custody after appearing in the Alexandra District Court yesterday.
Dwayne Evan Valentine, 44, entered no plea when he appeared by audiovisual link on charges of unlawfully possessing a firearm (.22 rifle), unlawfully possessing ammunition (.22), supplying cannabis to a person aged under 18, allowing premises to be used for smoking cannabis, and three charges of breaching a protection order.
He was remanded in custody until February 20, although Judge Michael Turner gave him leave to apply for bail before that date.
Police say a firearm, ammunition, cannabis and methamphetamine were found after a search warrant was executed at the property, as well as drug paraphernalia and utensils.
Information supplied yesterday incorrectly said he was caught with cocaine.
