John Wekking, of Cromwell, gets ready to take part in the Rotary Club of Cromwell’s Round the Lake event in Cromwell yesterday on his electric bike.
Mr Wekking was the only participant in the Rotary Club of Cromwell event to ride an electric bike around the 90km course. He described it as "a great wee bike".
"Once you get on it you don’t ever want to get off. It’s the original ‘no-sweat’ ride".
Mr Wekking was one of 45 people who took part in the event, which was held as part of Mental Health Awareness Week.
Event convener Bill Roxburgh said all proceeds from the event, which was in its eighth year, went towards mental health initiatives in Central Otago.
