Today's Rural Art Deco Maniototo event will take place in Ranfurly despite wet weather forecast for the weekend.
Organisers Tracy and Bill Acklin came up with a wet weather plan yesterday, which will be imposed if rain persists.
"We have been told by the locals that if there's rain at 7am it will be fine at 11am. That's the case for Ranfurly, apparently, so we will just see how it goes," Mrs Acklin said.
If the plan is implemented, live entertainment will be moved indoors, and warm, dry places found for all involved.
"Our plan will incorporate Ranfurly's art deco buildings into the festival. Entertainment and other planned events will take place inside Forry's Bar and Cafe, Ranfurly Lion Hotel, and the Ranfurly Town Hall," she said.
Mrs Acklin said market stalls would also have sufficient cover on and around the town's main street.
This year's Art Deco schedule remained unchanged, although the evening cabaret will be held tonight in the town hall.
Mrs Acklin said popular entertainment had returned to perform on request, and some newcomers would also prove to be crowd-pleasers.
An official opening will take place at midday, followed by a 1.30pm procession, 2.30pm fashion parade, and 8.30pm cabaret.
A car rally, high tea, market, and picnic will be held between main events, alongside jazz, country, and pop music to be played live at different venues throughout the programme.
Children will be entertained by magic shows, street entertainers, and food stalls.
