The 111 call was made at 10.04am from the public phone outside the Highway Diner at the south end of Clyde St and police want the public's help in tracing the caller. The voice was described as being that of a man, possibly in his 20s.
Police were listening to a copy of the call yesterday afternoon in an effort to identify who was responsible. The call was thought to be the first of its kind in the town.
At 10.25am, Sergeant Martin Bull entered the courthouse and quietly told Judge John Macdonald about the threat before the court sitting was adjourned. Police then ordered the building be evacuated.
A crowd of about 100, including lawyers, defendants, media and the public assembled across the road from the Paisley St building. The street was cordoned off while police conducted a search inside the building.
Sgt Bull said nothing suspicious was found and the court hearing resumed after 30 minutes.
Police were keen to hear from anyone who saw anyone in the Highway Diner phone booth about 10am yesterday.
