"Folk need help in many different circumstances and Gaynor is a person who often thinks of others before herself," her nominator said.
"Be it providing a meal, accommodation if necessary, taking time to be there as a friend for a chat or giving someone a break by taking in their elderly relatives. She also delivers Meals on Wheels.
"Gaynor and her husband Dennis look out for six grandchildren spread around Otago, and Dennis also offers friendship to people during difficult times in their lives, providing and delivering firewood to elderly friends who have no way of doing it themselves."
