Unkempt private sections in Wanaka are frustrating former Dunedin mayor Sukhi Turner so much she has demanded the QLDC take action.

The Wanaka resident told the council's plan hearing yesterday the council was "too lenient on people who are not good neighbours" and called for a bylaw that would force landowners to pay for an enforced tidy-up.

Mrs Turner said noxious weeds were casting an ugly shadow on the neighbourhood and becoming a nuisance.
