Burning up trail

Ranfurly's volunteer radio station is using the Otago Central Rail Trail for a team bonding exercise this weekend.

Staff, volunteers, and board members of Burn 729am will take to the tourist track from about 2pm today.

Station manager Quentin McIntosh said none of the radio station's crew had cycled the rail trail, although it was a major feature of the Maniototo and wider Central Otago district.

"None of us have ever done anything like this before, so it's just a bit of fun, as well as a team-building exercise," he said.

The group of about 10 planned to begin their 20km trip at Lauder and would finish near Oturehua.
