Drinking water supplies at Roxburgh and Lake Roxburgh Village may be upgraded earlier than previously proposed.
The Roxburgh Community Board resolved to fast-track an upgrade and apply for funding from the Government by March next year.
An upgrade of the supplies was initially included in the 2009-2019 Long Term Council Community Plan.
All going well, an upgraded water supply in both towns could be completed by March 2011.
Board member and Central Otago District Council councillor John Lane said the state of both drinking water supplies was "ridiculous" and the council should have done more to improve both supplies in the past few years.
